SPOOK RALLY 2009

Arizona Rough Rider's Club Event Information!
Phoenix Arizona is one of the few major cities in the country that can boast world-class four-wheeling within 50 miles in almost any direction. It makes it an excellent home base for a family-oriented club like the Arizona Rough Riders. Whether you're looking to find easy scenic trails suited to your showroom-stock 4x4, or rock-crawling tough enough to host the National Rock-Crawling Championships, you'll find it here, and the Rough Riders will take you there!

As a club activity, the Arizona Rough Riders host at least one four-wheel drive trip each month. These trips are carefully planned so that any capable four-wheel-drive vehicle can come along, and so that those who enjoy more challenging "wheeling" will have places to test their skills as well. Each trip is given a trail rating, from 1 through 5. A 1-rated trail is basically an unpaved road, and a 5-rated trail will include obstacles to challenge the most experienced driver in a heavily modified vehicle. The tougher obstacles sometimes include "go arounds" on club runs, so that all members can enjoy the outing, regardless of their experience level or how their vehicle is set up.

  • Monthly trips are organized by the club to provide four-wheel drive travel experiences.
  • Trips range in difficulty from mild(stock vehicle) to hard-core (very modified vehicle) and everything in between.
  • We encourage participation by people of all experience and skill levels. Guests are always welcome.
  • Camping Trips: Weekend camping trips of 2 or more days duration, depending on the time available.
  • Day/Night Runs: Day runs, usually on a Saturday, planned to take advantage of available daylight. Night Runs are usually on a Saturday night and generally require a higher degree of 4 wheel driving skills and equipment.
  • Wildcat Runs: Occasionally, members will decide to go on a spur of the moment trip, in addition to the monthly club run. These trips are typically announced by Email or phone calls.
  • Work projects: members assist local or national groups by providing labor, tools and vehicles for clean up and maintenance of trails or other public lands.
  • Spook Run: For the past 21 years, we have staged our annual fund raiser, "The Spook Run", around the Halloween season. See our latest Spook Run Results page for additional information.
  • Four Wheel Drive Safety: The club is active in the ASA4WDC Safety and Education program.

Check the Club Trip calendar on this website, and join us on our next run. Or, if you have questions, send us an email and someone will reply or contact you. We look forward to meeting you!
